SUMMARY : This position is twofold:

1. To service the customer by loading their purchases.

2. Receive, store, and distribute products sold by the Agri-Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reads customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.

Conveys materials and products from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas.

Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, pallets, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.

Reads customer load orders or load out sheets for merchandise or feed products and assembles orders from stock by placing orders on pallets or wheeler and loading on the customers vehicle or a trailer.

Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.

Drive forklift to transport items to be stored or to be loaded.

Take quarterly inventory.

Rebag broken bags of feed products.

Keep warehouse, dock, and grounds swept and picked-up.

Meet and deal with public, our customers, in a manner so that they will come back.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

LANGUAGE SKILLS :

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Reading is an important aspect in loading the right products. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY :

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

A variety of products from 20# bags of cat food to large livestock equipment will be loaded by hand, wheeler, or forklift. You are constantly walking and reaching for products.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The general nature to the job is one in which you go in and out of the warehouse so one is exposed to the weather a lot. Dust from the parking area and products are in the air and can aggravate allergies. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. Agricultural chemicals are sold through our Agri-Centers and it will be necessary to handle these containers when loading customers or unloading new shipments. These products are safe when handled properly. Mild vibration may be experienced when driving a forklift.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud due to forklifts and trucks but it is not an area that would require ear protection.
