Job Description

Our client, a leading mechanical contractor in New York, is seeking a VDC Manager to lead their virtual design and construction (VDC) efforts. This role requires a highly skilled professional with at least 5 years of experience in mechanical systems coordination, BIM management, and digital construction workflows. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the VDC process for mechanical systems, ensuring seamless integration with overall project design. Manage and mentor a team of BIM/VDC specialists, providing technical guidance and ensuring project deadlines are met. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to optimize prefabrication and installation strategies using BIM technologies. Lead clash detection and coordination meetings, resolving conflicts between mechanical, electrical, and structural trades. Implement and improve BIM workflows, standards, and best practices to enhance project efficiency. Work closely with clients and stakeholders to ensure that VDC deliverables align with project objectives. Utilize software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other VDC tools to develop and refine mechanical system models. Qualifications: ~5+ years of experience in VDC/BIM, specializing in mechanical systems. ~ Strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and piping coordination within a BIM environment. ~ Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and clash detection tools. ~ Experience working with general contractors, mechanical contractors, or MEP design firms. ~ Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and drive project success. ~ Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities to coordinate across disciplines. ~ Must be based in New York or willing to relocate.
