Position Available: MiraCosta College invites applications for a dynamic and equity-focused tenure-track faculty position in the Physical Science Department, starting in August 2025. This full-time (10-months per year) position offers an exciting opportunity to teach Earth Science, Geology, and Oceanography at a Hispanic-Serving Institution, while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment across a diverse student population. We seek a candidate that is dedicated to student success, innovative instruction, and collaborative leadership. Our programs provide the opportunity for both field and classroom-based learning, and we encourage active learning strategies that enhance student understanding and overall success. The ideal candidate will contribute to curriculum development, program coordination, and the advancement of culturally responsive teaching practices, helping to inspire and empower our diverse community of learners. RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all full-time faculty to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employees regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs.The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.

Childcare Facility (Oceanside Campus) Minimum Qualifications: To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications: 1. Master's degree in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography
or paleontology;
OR
2. Master's in geological sciences or geology & geophysics (approved comparable
degrees at MiraCosta College);
OR
3. Bachelor's degree in geology
AND a Master's degree in geography, physics, or
geochemistry;
OR 4. the equivalent. Applicants who do not possess the
EXACT degree major(s) required to meet the minimum qualifications must attach an equivalency narrative and supporting documentation at the time of application. Instructions can be found at ;
OR 5. a fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter;
AND
6. demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
