RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES
Working with R&D, Engineering and Production groups, and in accordance with the OSHA (or similar) pyramid model for controlling exposure, identify processes that should be substituted, establish engineering controls, develop processes to prevent exposure, and lastly, establish the appropriate PPE.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education : Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Occupational Health & Safety. or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 year's experience in chemical safety, laboratory safety or environmental health & safety in a manufacturing environment. CGIH membership or certification is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA, ACGIH regulations and doctrines. Experience developing and managing a Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP). Strong knowledge of chemical properties, hazards and safe handling practices. Excellent communication skill with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics to all levels of the organization. Detailed orientation is essential, especially in stressful situations.
Physical Requirements: Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
