In-Fisherman is the world’s leading publication covering all things freshwater fishing across its widely-read magazine, website and television show, which ranks among the longest-running fishing shows in history. The brand will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025 and we are hiring an Associate Editor to work with our existing team to further develop cutting-edge content across all of our media platforms.

Examples of work performed:

• Write and/or edit articles as needed, including feature stories and columns for the magazine, special-interest publications, and digital platforms.
• Proofread at each stage of copy production. Check for grammar, punctuation, usage, capitalization, style, layout, format, inconsistencies, redundancies and verifies facts as needed.
• Assign articles as needed, in collaboration with the Editor In Chief and Digital Content Manager.
• Participate in hosting television show segments as needed.
• Participate in developing engaging content for social-media platforms.
• Monitor compliance with editorial production schedules.
• Shoot high-quality photography suitable for publication in print and online, as well as short-form video for use in social-media posts.
• Assist with developing content that aligns with the business goals and objectives of the brand and company.
• Participate in developing engaging content for website, including articles, podcasts, and short videos as needed.
• Assist in ensuring legal compliance of content (e.g., copyright and data protection).
• Represent In-Fisherman at company functions, trade shows, and industry events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

• At In-Fisherman , we take fishing seriously because our readers and viewers do, too. That means there will be days spent on the water (big and small) either in a boat or kayak chasing all varieties of freshwater fish.

Qualifications:

• Minimum
  1. BS/BA degree in field or related field, such as Journalism, English or Communications.
  2. 3-5 years of experience in writing and editing
  3. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
• Preferred

1. Writing and editing experience in outdoors/fishing/hunting categories

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Solid writing, editing, and proofing skills.
• Able to multitask and be accurate under tight deadlines.
• Able to collaborate as an effective team member.
• Able to communicate clearly.
• Knowledge of and interest in the outdoors, especially freshwater fishing.
• Must have a strong work ethic and a passion for searching out errors and correcting grammar.
• Must have the ability to reprioritize tasks according to changing demands.
• Ability to learn new programs, processes, and systems quickly.
• Experience using Apple computers, Microsoft Office (Exchange, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive) and InDesign.
• Knowledge of social media platforms.
