Our client is an organization in the Madison area seeking a dedicated Accounting Assistant for a permanent position. The ideal candidate will have related experience, be detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills. Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000, dependent on experience.

The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including daily cash bank account reconciliations, journal entry postings, accounts payable processing, and more. This role requires excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately create and post general ledger entries in a timely manner.
• Reconcile cash bank accounts daily, ensuring all transactions on the bank and GL side are accounted for
• Post system transactions
• Process accounts payable
• Communicate effectively with outside vendors.
• Perform various reconciliations of income tax accounts.
• Accumulate and assemble required data for filing sales and property tax returns.
• Research the General Ledger for errors or omissions and resolve any issues that arise.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain fixed assets.
• Assist with managing cash balances and addressing any account issues that may arise.

Experience Required:

• Associate's degree preferred but not required.
• At least 2+ years of related experience required.
• Comfortable with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
